REU Summer Programs at Mississippi State University / Undergraduate Research Programs

1) NSF-funded Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program in Food, Energy, and Water Security at Mississippi State University (May 26 – July 31, 2026). The 10-week program offers a $7,000 stipend, housing and meals, and travel support, with research opportunities in renewable energy, biochar, and water purification. We'd greatly appreciate it if you could share this flyer with your students-especially those interested in environmentally focused research or considering graduate study.  Applications due February 15, 2026. 2) USDA-funded REEU program, AI-enabled Industrial Solutions for Forest Products (AI2F), hosted at Mississippi State University. This 10 week program offers an exceptional opportunity for undergraduate students to participate in hands-on research at the intersection of artificial intelligence, sustainable forest-product industries, and real-world problem solving. Selected participants will receive a $6,000 support package, which includes a stipend, housing, transportation, and meal allowances.  Weekly professional development seminars include research presentations, field visits, technical writing support, communication workshops, and guidance for graduate school preparation.  Application Deadline: February 1, 2026.
