Congratulations to the TExBioMed Summer Institute!

The Training and Experiential Learning in Biomedical Informatics (TExBioMed) Summer Institute is a unique program that initially started at the University of Texas at Arlington and is now being continued at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Led by Principal Investigator and Program Director Dr. Gabriela Wilson, a distinguished leader in the field of health informatics. This research training program is strategically designed to meet the future needs of the informatics workforce and ultimately expand the talent pool. By participating in this program, scholars are connected to this prestigious network, opening doors to a wealth of opportunities.

During this 12 week program, 13 UL Lafayette Undergraduate Students participed in mentored research projects, where they were carefully matched with research faculty mentors. They received acadmeic and career guidance and were able to connect with peer networks and top researchers in the industry and academia. The scholars presented their findings to faculty, staff, community partners, and family members at a final ceremony on August 1, 2025.
